Welcoming our VP International

From the lab to the front lines, Dr. Ciaran Callaghan brings deep chemical expertise, BAE Systems munitions experience, and British Army Commando service to guide Supply Energetics’ global expansion.

The modern crisis facing the energetics industrial base is fundamentally a global challenge, and resolving it requires a highly integrated, transatlantic solution. As Supply Energetics continues to scale its operations and establish a deeper footprint across the pond with Supply Energetics UK Limited, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Ciarán Callaghan as our new Vice President for International.

Ciarán joins our leadership team at a pivotal moment. His background brings a rare, mission-critical alignment of deep chemical expertise, defense technology consulting, and direct operational experience.

From the Front Lines to Chemical Engineering

Ciarán’s technical depth is grounded in a rigorous academic foundation, holding a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Plymouth and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath. But what truly sets him apart is his firsthand understanding of how these chemical compounds perform where it matters most: in the field.

Before transitioning into advanced defense technologies, Ciarán served as an enlisted Gunner with the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery in the British Army. This operational tenure gave him a boots-on-the-ground perspective on range safety, munitions handling, and the vital importance of reliable, high-spec energetics for the warfighter.

Following his military service, Ciarán brought this combined operational and chemical insight into the commercial defense sector:

  • Major Prime Engineering: He served as a Design Engineer within the Tank Munitions team at BAE Systems, optimizing legacy hardware and kinetic capabilities.
  • Dual-Use & Aerospace Startups: As a Director at Phoenix-NC, he led dual-use defense and biomedical ventures specializing in nitrocellulose-based technologies. His background also includes technical quality engineering for aerospace launch ventures like Skyrora Ltd.

Strengthening the Allied Supply Chain

Ciarán has long been an outspoken advocate for stabilizing and "on-shoring" the upstream chemical supply chain. He recognizes that the raw manufacturing infrastructure behind foundational military capabilities-from traditional nitrocellulose-based propellants to advanced materials like RDX, CL-20, and ammonium perchlorate-is currently too fragile, unsophisticated, and vulnerable to foreign supply shocks.

Whether a state is formulating classic gun propellants or pioneering next-generation low-vulnerability (LOVA) munitions, the underlying requirement is identical: a secure, sophisticated capability to process raw feedstocks, inorganic acids, and fine chemicals on sovereign soil.

Leading Our International Vector

Operating directly from our UK footprint, Ciarán will steer Supply Energetics’ international commercial strategy, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership. He will oversee our ongoing UK Ministry of Defence work and broader engagement with international partners, ensuring our modular, automated manufacturing technologies integrate cleanly into Allied defense industrial bases.

At Supply Energetics, we are determined to move past the bottlenecks of 1940s-era batch processing and give our allies the high-velocity, resilient infrastructure they need to ensure sovereign supply. With Ciarán leading our international initiatives, we are better equipped than ever to execute that mission.

Welcome to the team, Ciarán. Let's rebuild the arsenal.
